Viet Nam celebrates International Day of Biodiversity
On the occasion of the International Day of Biodiversity (May 22), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam will hold a Celebration and many activities in response.
Specifically, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will organize a Workshop on "Coordinating actions to implement the Kunming - Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework"; planting trees and releasing wild animals in Ba Be National Park; Exhibition of paintings and photos on nature conservation and biodiversity...
This is an opportunity to raise public awareness, as well as the role of each individual and organization in building, preserving and promoting biodiversity values. Therefore, the activities are aimed at propagating, educating, raising awareness, responsibility and self-consciousness about biodiversity conservation at home and abroad, thereby honoring biodiversity values for human life, the world's messages to the community to take practical actions to preserve and promote biodiversity values for the sustainable development of the country.
In Viet Nam, in 1995, "Viet Nam's Biodiversity Action Plan" was issued shortly after Viet Nam became a member of the Convention on Biological Diversity. In 2013, the Prime Minister signed and promulgated Decision No. 1250/TTg-CP approving the National Strategy on Biodiversity until 2020, with a vision to 2030.
2022 is the first year that the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 officially comes into effect. To prevent the decline of biodiversity, right from the beginning of 2022, the Government issued Decision 149/QD-TTg approving the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2030, with a vision to 2050. The strategy to encourage NGOs, businesses and people to participate in conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and to promote natural capital is the first stipulated in the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, boldly expand the private sector to participate in biodiversity conservation.
