Strengthening international cooperation in just energy transition
On May 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the United Nations Development Program to organize an international workshop to strengthen cooperation, encourage knowledge transfer and promote sharing of experiences in the just energy transition.

         The workshop was attended by high-ranking delegates from the governments of three countries that have a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETPs) namely: South Africa, Indonesia and Viet Nam, and 7 other developing countries with strong interest in energy transitions.

         The workshop also brought together representatives from the International Partnership Group (IPG), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Zero Net Emissions (GFANZ), development partners, key ministries of Viet Nam and delegates from 63 provinces, cities, and other stakeholders, to promote dialogue and increase understanding for a rapid and sustainable equitable energy transition.

         The workshop's message emphasized the importance of "just" aspects in the energy transition; wishes to support energy transition efforts between countries and promote national energy transition programs and goals. The workshop highlighted the need for innovative, equitable and sustainable decarbonization approaches for economies and achieving climate and development goals.

         Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet affirmed that Viet Nam's consistent and transparent policy is determined to respond to climate change; building a green, circular and environmentally friendly economy. Viet Nam's determination demonstrates its commitment at COP26 and its decision to join the for the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) with a G7 countries and other international partners to both serve the domestic socio-economic development and join hands with the international community to respond to climate change.

         Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet also emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation and sharing experiences for just energy transition efforts.
