The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment develops 28 environmental standards
The Department of Environmental Pollution Control (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) is developing 28 national environmental standards of Viet Nam (QCVN).
These 28 standards include the following groups:
8 QCVN on ambient quality including standards on ambient air quality; surface water; Groundwater; seawater; maximum allowable limits of some pollutants in the soil; noise; vibration; sediment.
7 QCVN on waste including environmental standards on industrial emissions; industrial wastewater; livestock wastewater; domestic wastewater and urban wastewater; emissions from vehicles in circulation; drilling fluid, drilling mud discharged from oil and gas works at sea; waste water from oil and gas projects at sea.
5 QCVN on management of scrap imported from abroad as raw production materials, including environmental standards on scrap iron and steel; plastic; paper; glass; ferrous metal.
1 QCVN on limits of persistent pollutants in raw materials, fuels, materials, products, goods and equipment.
Up to now, 14 QCVN have completed the appraisal steps awaiting promulgation; 1 QCVN is in the process of appraisal; 3 QCVN are in the process of being verified by the Department of Science and Technology and 10 QCVN are in the process of being developed and completed.
National technical standards on the environment are the basis for the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 and its guiding documents.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment develops these standards based on experience and parameters in the standards of advanced countries such as Korea, and at the same time compares them with countries with the same development level as Viet Nam to set the appropriate thresholds, ensuring practicality and science.
